Everyone on our planet needs a myth to live by, something that gives us meaning in our lives. In our society of today when we have put science and a square way of looking at life in focus sometimes dread and lack of meaning is creeping in to existence. Somehow, our so much loved activities that we play in nature easily become our lifestyle and then the myth that is bringing meaning to our lives.

Chris Rubens is screaming out the joy for skiing

The game rules though, tells us who are living for skiing that there are seasons. And that’s lucky enough because we get to feel the contradictions in having and not having. For us skiers for example, we have winter – and then we don’t, we have winter – and then we don’t. We get to do that which we love, and that is bringing joy and meaning to our lives – and then we don’t.

Is this anywhere close to the dreams you have about the upcoming winter?

In this way we don’t grow bored of one of the most important things in our lives, but we all have to handle the summer months of dread and boredom. Many take up other interests and keep a happy face, but when it comes down to it: all skiers are longing for winter.

Or this? Being upside down some 10 meters up in the air…

So when we have passed the warmest and lightest summer months, all skiers are starting to dream about winter. The patient is running short. It´s time, at least for dreaming about skiing. Blocking the ski dreams away now belongs to a time in the past and our bodies and minds are preparing for winter, snow, skis, snowy faces and screaming our lungs out just because of softness meeting a falling sensation.

I might be biased, but I think Salomon together with Mike Douglas and Switchback Entertainment is doing a pretty good job in satisfying our pre autumn craving for ski-dreaming-satisfaction. The sixth season of Salomon´s FreeskiTV is soon here for all to enjoy and below is the teaser giving us a glimpse of pure joy for skiing. Last years production had over five million views – don´t be surprised if this season will beat that.
